Armed Forces Day is officially just one Saturday, but the UK marks it as part of a wider Armed Forces Week, which naturally stretches celebrations across several days. Councils, charities, schools, cadet units and community groups use the whole week — and the weekends either side — to run events when venues, volunteers and families are available. With Reserves Day mid‑week and many towns choosing dates that best suit their local calendars, the result is a flexible, extended programme that gives more people the chance to take part, show support and celebrate the Armed Forces in their own communities.
Somerset Armed Forces Day held in Vivary Park, Taunton is always the weekend after the official launch, and falls on the first Saturday in July
