Down in Vivary Park where the banners fly,
Somerset gathers under summer sky.
Families walking through the morning light,
Honouring heroes who stood and fought the fight.
From the Mendip hills to the Quantock line,
Stories of courage echo through all time.
Cadets stand proud and the standards rise,
As the Spitfires roar across the Taunton skies.
Veterans march with medals shining bright,
Each one a memory, each one a fight.
Children wave flags as the music plays,
Learning the meaning of these honoured days.
Let the drums roll out, let the bugles call,
For freedom’s price was paid by them all.
And Somerset’s promise, forever we’ll say:
“We’ll remember you every Somerset Armed Forces Day.”

Hearts beat as one in the sunshine of July.
For the brave and the fallen, the serving today,
