Keep a look out for Roger Blighty the wannabe pilot with his detailed scale model biplane Betsy Blue that’s attached to a penny farthing bicycle at Armed Forces Day on Saturday 6th July. Give him space though, Betsy Blue boasts a six foot wingspan, motorised propellers and an onboard sound system that replicates the sounds of a biplane. It has engine and flight noises, it splutters and coughs and a few comedy sound effects thrown in for good measure. The sound system also plays music such as Ride of the Valkyries, Those Magnificent Men and the Dambusters theme tune and many more.

It’s very unlikely that Roger’s actually going to get off the ground, but that won’t stop him from having his head in the clouds dreaming of being a magnificent man in his flying machine.

If he spots a likely crowd, he will land his plane, hopefully not a crash landing, have a chat and a laugh and just entertain you until he ‘takes off’ again in search of his next crowd to have more fun with.

Roger Blighty does have a sidekick called Victor Bravo he gets up the same sort of mischief with his biplane/penny farthing conversion.

Chocks away! Roger Blighty is cleared for take off!
