Representatives of the Somerset Branch of SSAFA (SSAFA Somerset) who provide support to our Armed Forces and their families, will be joining us on Saturday 6th July.

In 1885 Major (later Colonel Sir) James Gildea founded Soldiers’ and Sailors’ Families Association (SSFA) and the charity went through many changes over the years, including in 1919 changing the name of the charity to the Soldiers’, Sailors’ & Airmen’s Families Association (SSAFA), the name it’s known as today. Check out their website’s history page to see the changes that have gone on during the last 139 years: https://www.ssafa.org.uk/about-us/our-history

SSAFA offer support to those serving in the regular British Army and Reserves, the Royal Navy, the Royal Marines, and the Royal Airforce. They understand the demands of service life. They also help the families of those serving and Verterans too.

Why not stop by their pitch and to find out all that they do and if you are interested in volunteering for them, I’m sure they would give you the information you require or point you in the right direction.
