Representatives of Freewheelers EVS will be with us on Saturday 6th July. They are a registered charity that are a free of charge courier service out of hours delivering blood, patient notes, X rays, pathology and microbiology specimens, medical supplies to name but a few of things that they transport to the NHS. Their slogan is “Riding for Life” describes what they do perfectly. They do what they do to play their part in saving peoples lives. They are passionate about what they do and it helps the NHS divert money.
In 2008 they were given The Queen’s Award for Voluntary Service in recognition of the dedicated work of all of Freewheelers EVS volunteers. The award is the equivalent of and MBE.
The charity has now been operating for over 30 years and the service they provide is totally done by volunteers. Without the support of public sponsorship and donations, they would not be able to do what they do.
If you’d like to know more about Blood Bikes or the charity, why not stop by the Freewheeler EVS pitch, the volunteers representing the charity on the day will be more than happy to tell you what they do.
Check out their website if you would like to know more of if you would be interested in volunteering yourself.
To the volunteers, we would like to say thank you for doing what you do.
