Check out all about the Red Arrows who are in their 60th year of oustanding dynamic displays. See the link below.

It was 1964 when the Red Arrows were formed by the amalgamation of the Royal Air Force’s display teams. The name came from the Black Arrows team (using their arrow symbol) and the colour was a nod to the Red Pelicans and at the time the chosen aircraft they flew was the Gnat which had been used by the Yellowjacks, it was used by the Red Arrows until it was replaced by the Hawk in 1980.

Their first season of flying was in 1965 and seven aircraft were used and they were based at RAF Fairford. Their first official display was at a media event on the 6th May, 1965 and it was at RAF Little Rissington and their first display for the public was on the 15th of May at the Biggin Hill Air Fair.

In 1968 the number of aircraft was increased to nine and their trademark formation which we still know and love today is the Diamond Nine.

Since their first flight in 1965, the Red Arrows has performed more than 4,900 times not just in the UK but across the globe.
